“Helau” and goodbye - fleeing the carnival

“Denn wenn et Trömmelche jeit”, “when the drums start beating”, we take to our heels. Soon, carnival time will come around again, in NRW and in the Rhineland region in particular, when the “Jecken” (“fools”) party non-stop. Carnival means partying day and night, and “Humba Humba Täterä”, as they say. However, the alcoholic festivities during the “fifth season” are not to everyone’s taste. However, anyone wanting to flee the “Alaaf”, “Helau”, confetti and costumes doesn’t have to travel far to escape the fools’ antics.

The Siegen-Wittgenstein region is located right next to the carnival heartland of Cologne. Just a few minutes’ drive or ride by train away from the party city, anyone wanting peace and quiet will find what they’re looking for here. Instead of fired-up pirates, cowboys, unicorns and princesses, the Siegerland offers relaxation, wellness and rest. Whether you travel alone, as a couple, with your family or with your dog, the hotels in Siegen-Wittgenstein are well-prepared for the “refugee caravan” and have short holiday breaks on offer.

One option is forest bathing, for example. The trend from Japan is currently taking over in Germany, and naturally also in the Siegen district. Japanese urbanites escape in a steady stream from the stressful big cities and into nature, to experience and enjoy the atmosphere there with all their senses. Forest bathing is a kind of wellness for the soul. Walking, peace, deep breathing, listening, feeling, switching off - simply finding your way back to yourself. The trend, which was initially a subject of amusement, is becoming increasingly popular, and is the perfect contrast to the carnival. Here, the only red nose you’ll get is from the fresh forest air.

We have compiled the most beautiful and peaceful places to escape the carnival and relaxation packages here:
