Neunkirchen
Experience the parish of Neunkirchen, from its highest elevations to under the ground. Hike to the basalt peak on the legendary “Hohenseelbachskopf” hill, to the Silbersee lake in a volcanic crater or to the mine, to the depths of the Wodanstolln tunnel. Discover history and fascinating stories with themed routes such as the “Hohe Struth”, which tells the story of how water was obtained. You’ll find present-day treasures lying on the ground in the orchards and as art objects in the forest.

Discover the region
As well as the Wodanstolln tunnel, the village smithy in Salchendorf, the “Museum des Freien Grundes” (Freier Grund region museum) in Leyhof and the historic “Toni Weber” farmhouse in Neunkirchen bring the region’s historical inheritance alive. The Heimatstube parlour in the Wiederstein chapel school takes you back to the 18th century. The basalt peak on the Hohenseelbachkopf hill used to be a Celtic place of worship. Treat yourself to a refreshing break in the Freier Grund family baths. The themed art trail, “Ansichten-Aussichten” (“Views-perspectives”) combines nature with culture. The farmers’ and organic market on 29 September 2019 rings in the golden autumn season. From October, you can look forward to “kultur.AM.ORT”, a series of events with concerts and small-scale art.
