Der Turm hinter dem Marburger Landgrafenschloss verrät mit seinem Namen „Hexenturm“ seine frühere Verwendung. Er ist Teil eines dunklen Kapitels in der Geschichte Marburgs - der Hexenverfolgung.
Der Turm hinter dem Marburger Landgrafenschloss verrät mit seinem Namen „Hexenturm“ seine frühere Verwendung. Er ist Teil eines dunklen Kapitels in der Geschichte Marburgs - der Hexenverfolgung. Ursprünglich als Geschützturm errichtet, diente der Bau 300 Jahre lang als Gefängnis. In 12 kalten, dunklen Zellen, umfangen von vier Meter dicken Mauern warteten die Insassen, darunter auch angebliche Hexen auf ihre Prozesse. Die kleinen vergitterten Fenster sind heute noch gut zu erkennen. Der Zugang zum Turm führt dich über eine kleine Außentreppe, von der du einen außergewöhnlichen Blick auf die nordwestliche Seite des Landgrafenschlosses hast.
