 Today's Wingeshäuser church was built as a late a late Romanesque hall church probably in the middle of the 13th Century. The first documentary mention of the village dates back to 1332, due to a dispute with two noblemen from Oberhundem. The church shines in the late Romanesque architectural style with Gothic elements. The bell is from the 14th century.

In 1822 there was a major fire in the church tower on the west side.
