Nur aus der Vogelperspektive kann man das 44 x 28 m messende "Monument des verschollenen Falken" vollständig erkennen. Aus Erdwällen hat der New Yorker Künstler Alan Sonfist den Schattenriss eines schwebenden Falken auf einer Waldlichtung im Wittgensteiner Forst modellieren lassen. Die Erdwälle erinnern an die Verteidigungshügel keltischer Fortifikationen der unmittelbaren Umgebung und wurden mit Baumarten bepflanzt, die früher den Wald in der Region dominierten, aber durch den Menschen verdrängt worden sind. Mit der dem Schattenriss folgenden Einzäunung schützt Sonfist seine Arbeit sinnbildlich vor Mensch und Tier, die durch Willkür bzw. Verbiss die Ursprünglichkeit der Natur oftmals unwiederbringlich verloren gehen lassen.
