Family adventure on the water
Children need regular breaks when hiking - and are even happier when they can climb, splash about and explore nature off the hiking trail during these breaks.
The major Sieg , Eder and Lahn rivers rise in the extensive forests of the Siegen-Wittgenstein region. Anyone who seeks out their source will find many beautiful hikes for young and old.
For example, there is a lovely walk that goes along the Walderlebnispfad (Forest Experience Path) to the source of the Sieg. To the right and left of the trail, children can find such challenges. The can fight their way through the forest wilderness as explorers, climb to viewing points and cross the adventurous bridges.

Whereas you dive into a legendary world full of goblins and elves on the “Kleiner Rothaar” fairy tale hiking trail, native animals can be marvelled at on the “Tiergartenrunde” (wildlife park walk). If this still isn’t adventurous enough for you, you can observe the large, awe inspiring bison at the Wissent-Wildnis (bison wilderness).
