Directions

From the start point Wilhelmsplatz in Bad Laasphe you first reach Laaspherhütte via a paved cycle path. On the so-called Promilleweg it goes calmly and without much climbing to Laaspherhütte. Briefly on the country road and after about 300 m back on the cycle path through beautiful floodplain landscapes via Herbertshausen to Banfe. In the village it climbs briefly to the left and the route leads above the Banfe valley to the junction to Hesselbach at the “Großer Bohnstein.” Always follow the signs. After a break in Hesselbach, it goes steadily uphill for about 2 km to the Spreitzkopf. To reward yourself for the sporty climb, a detour to the wind turbines at the summit offers a great panoramic view over the Wittgenstein region. Afterwards the route continues with lovely views downhill into the Wabach valley and towards the Ditzrod forester’s lodge, then through the Gennernbach valley back to Bad Laasphe.

Author´s Tip / Recommendation of the author

A stop at the Lindenhof restaurant in Hesselbach lets you relax. Enjoy the break in the beautiful courtyard and recharge for the rest of the route.

A detour to the wind turbines is also worthwhile after cycling up the hill. The huge structures look very impressive when you stand directly underneath them.

In Gennernbach we recommend a visit to the Wabachbad, where slides, swimming pools, a kiosk, and a lawn provide refreshment after the route. Open from May to September.
