The first very varied stage runs between Erndtebrück and Frankenberg (Eder) for about 68 km. Here you will experience a varied route characteristic. Adventurous sections alternate with a railway track feeling.

The route runs through a varied landscape of low mountain ranges.

From the Rothaargebirge Nature Park over the NRW / Hesse border through the Waldecker Land to Frankenberg.

There are always beautiful views, idyllic resting places, an old railway line with flair and a 350 m long tunnel.

Author’s recommendation

A stop at the Eder-Uferpark in Frankenberg is worthwhile. A highlight is the ten-tower town hall there.

Frankenberg (Eder)

Turn-by-turn directions

It starts at the train station in Erndtebrück. Behind the train station at the Park & Ride car park you will find the first Eder cycle path information board. There you will find information about sights and refreshment stops. At the moment the bike path runs a short distance through an industrial area (here the bike path will be relocated soon.) Then it goes on through a newly paved birch avenue. In the Bad Berleburg region it will be something more adventurous, there is a lot to discover. You can also take a detour to Bad Berleburg, where you can see the Berleburg Castle, among other things, and in Beddelhausen you pass North Rhine-Westphalia
