In 2018, the district Helberhausen celebrated its 700th anniversary. The themed hiking trail created on this occasion is meant to commemorate the time of wooden spoon production in Helberhausen. This craft was an important source of income for the Helberhausen spoon carvers for about a century. The hiking trail is also well suited for families with children and the young at heart due to its moderate elevation profile. Besides splendid views, hikers will repeatedly find benches inviting them to rest! Enjoy the beauty of the upper Ferndorftal. Additionally, the gastronomic establishments around the historic Hilchenbach market square and the Agricultural Museum Hadem invite you to visit.
We wish you a relaxing hike on the Löffelpfad.

Directions
The hike begins in the center of Helberhausen near the bus stop. You can park your car in the parking lot next to Haus Menn. Here you will also find an information board with a map excerpt and further background information about the Löffelpfad.
Then you can start. Follow the hiking sign of the very well-marked Löffelpfad about 700 m uphill along the valley, then turn left into the small side valley Burgseifen. After about 250 m, turn left again into a short forest path. Continue past fields and meadows, repeatedly with free views into the upper Ferndorftal, until you are about 1.5 km above the village of Oberndorf. Now follow the path downhill to the left into the valley. Passing old farmhouses, cross the L713 in the village and a few meters later the stream of the Ferndorf. On the other side of the valley, the path gently climbs into the open fields. About halfway, the path leads left through deciduous and mixed forest and then at about the same elevation along the mountainside. Magnificent views open up into the Ferndorftal onto the villages of Oberndorf and Helberhausen. Further on, the path leads above Helberhausen through mixed forest and coppice forest until you reach the village of Hadem, characterized by old farmhouses. An agricultural museum, with many historical devices and machines from earlier times, invites you to visit. An appointment with the operator is required.
After crossing the L713 and the Ferndorf stream, the hiking trail leads to the right, past a soccer field, a mini-golf course, the outdoor pool and the tennis courts to the Celenus Clinic for Neurology. A walking path leads around the clinic up to the Hilchenbach barefoot path with water treading station. Here you can give your feet a wonderfully refreshing break.
Then continue along the multi-generational playground until you reach the roundabout at the B508. Now you can decide whether to take a break in the town of Hilchenbach and stop for a meal in one of the restaurants in Dammstraße or at the historic market square. After the break, go back and cross the pedestrian crossing at the roundabout again. Now follow the hiking signs to the right. Shortly after, turn left into the street "An der Wilhelmsburg" and after a few meters into Wieserweg. Through the open Ferndorftal you reach the starting point of the Löffelpfad again in the center of Helberhausen.
