Start and finish of the fairy tale trail is the protestant town church in Bad Berleburg. Pass the entrance of the church, over the churchyard down into the fairytale castle park. The enchanting park inspires with large ponds and impresses with its old tree population. The ponds are populated with many ducks, geese, goldfish and carps. The area was originally designed as a animal park in the baroque era. Here one animal feels particularly well. "Sneak quietly along the path, you might hear the Frog King croaking".
Only a few meters further, the magnificent castle with its tower can be seen. Do you know the tale of Rapunzel? "Do you hear the prince calling: 'Rapunzel, please let down your hair?' ..."
A few steps further, leaving the castle park the trail now leads along a paved farm road, which is lined with more ponds. After a short distance we leave this passage again and turn right onto an old hollow way with historic pavement.
We move on through the extraordinary natural forest with its large, majestic trees and soon reach the resting forest. The resting forest is marked with a wooden cross and bank groups. Here we choose the upper hiking trail and come across a small, slate covered half-timbered house. Locals call the building "Christkindhaus", officially it is called "Burgfeldhaus". On our fairy tale trail it is the robbers' house of the Bremen Town Musicians. "I wonder if the robbers are still inside? Or have the Bremen Town Musicians already driven them away with noise and fuss - listen carefully!".
We follow the fairy-tale hiking trail further through the Bad Berleburg woods until we arrive above Café-Restaurant "Hof Mühlbach". Here we have a wide view of the Odeborn valley with the accompanying mountain ranges. Young and old fairy tale discoverers alike can test their balance and dexterity on the new wood adventure course. The course is made of local wood and was deliberately designed to be close to nature. The wooden stations invite to play adventures and climbing fun. Information about the current topic "forest" is provided by a notice board.
