The Bilderrahmen Trail, opened by the Littfeld Community Association in April 2026, is a circular hiking trail around the Kreuztal district of Littfeld. It combines nature, regional information and public art. Its defining feature is four walk through, four metre high picture frames at scenic viewpoints. They frame the village and the surrounding hills of the Siegerland like a landscape painting.

The Bilderrahmen Trail combines the scenic landscape around Littfeld with the history of the village. The circular route starts at the village square by the Kapellenschule and leads through the historic centre with its listed buildings before continuing along forest and meadow paths into the diverse low mountain landscape of the Siegerland region.

A distinctive feature of the trail is its four oversized steel picture frames, installed at selected viewpoints. They draw attention to impressive landscapes and offer unique views of Littfeld, the Kindelsberg, the Siegerland and other landmarks, turning the landscape itself into a picture.

In addition to the panoramic views, historic buildings, the traditional Hauberg woodland, open meadows and natural forest paths give the hike its distinctive character. The trail is suitable for both hikers and walkers, combining nature, local history and recreation.

Each location is equipped with a QR code. Scanning it with a mobile device provides historical information, background facts and anecdotes about the respective viewpoint.

Directions

The Bilderrahmen Trail starts at the village square in Littfeld next to the Kapellenschule and first leads through the historic village centre. Along Hagener Straße, Limbachstraße and Zum Burberg, hikers pass landmarks such as a magnificent chestnut tree, the restored Krämersche Forge and the listed Krämersch House. The route then follows Heeserhofstraße and Heiligen Seifen into the forest, where a varied trail through woodland and meadows leads to the historic apiaries.

After reaching a gravel path, the first picture frame offers an impressive view of Littfeld and the Kindelsberg Tower. The trail then continues through the traditional Hauberg woodland via Sesamstraße. Another picture frame provides sweeping views across the Siegerland as far as the Siegen TV Tower and the Kalteiche ridge. Further viewpoints along Birkenhof and the Panorama Höhenweg overlook the Littfetal valley and the Krombacher Brewery.

From the Aspen junction, the route passes below the cemetery and returns towards the village via Zum Reckhammer to a playground. After passing beneath the railway line, a short climb leads through open meadows. Another picture frame offers panoramic views across Littfeld to the wind turbines at Zum ewigen Fuhrmann.

The final section passes through the village centre along Altenberger Straße, past Fred Meier Square and the historic Junk half timbered house. Following the Heimkäuser Bach, the trail returns to the village square. The walk can be rounded off with a visit to the local bakery or, on Thursdays and Fridays, the Fantasie coffee wagon.
