Calorie trail Hilchenbach

The journey starts at the parking lot at the Breitenbachtalsperre. You then walk over the dam crest, where information boards provide a lot of interesting facts about the reservoir. On the other side, you will find the first adventure point (1). After some physical activity with a view of the lake, turn right into the forest together with A2. Soon you will get a beautiful view of the Ferndorftal. The second adventure station invites you to "cycle" (2). Then follow the forest edge to a cross path. At this point, go uphill to the left and pass adventure station 3 (3). The short climb ends before an asphalt path. Here, turn right onto a small clearing, shortly afterwards cross the parallel tarred path, and continue straight ahead on a forest path. At the next fork, turn right past a pumping station. From here on, the white triangle accompanies the WanderHighlight logo. Now the muscles have to work again, because almost in the fall line the tall fir forest is conquered! After the steep ascent, turn left on a grassy path to the summit and from there right into a rustic forest area. At a fork in the path, the calorie trail turns left onto a path and separates from the white triangle. On a forest road, go a short distance to the left, then continue uphill on a forest path. In the middle of the forest, you will reach the highest point of the route. At Dörrhöhe, adventure station 4 together with a snack island and a magnificent view over the reservoir invites you to take a break (4). From the right, the hiking trail marked with an H from Hilchenbach meets the calorie trail, which serves as a feeder from the town center about 2 km away. Guided by the WanderHighlight logo and the white X, the path dips into the forest. After a shift on a cross path, adventure station 5 is passed (5). Through beech forest, descend to the lake where adventure station 6 encourages abdominal exercises (6). Now there is a short asphalt section on the shore path, which is loosened up by adventure station 7 (7). At adventure station 8, you are allowed to switch right onto a rustic path (8). Here, you can catch tentative glimpses of the lake before the calorie trail reaches a cross path and a comfortable forest lounger invites you to rest. Then continue left to the next intersection (9) at adventure station 9. Here, turn left and on soft forest ground, tackle the last small ascent to Krackertsberg. After this summit, the path descends and meets the shore path in sight of the goal (10). Adventure station 10 provides the last pause. After 7 km, the eventful route ends at the dam crest (S)

You can reach Hilchenbach via the B508. Via Talsperrenstraße, you get to the visitor parking lot at the Breitenbachtalsperre.

An alternative start and end point is the market square of the town of Hilchenbach.

After the route, a visit to the "Old Warden's House" is recommended, where you can quickly regain the lost calories in a delicious way.

The access route from Hilchenbach Market Square is 11 km long. The actual circular route is about 7 km long.

Ankle-high shoes are recommended as some paths require good surefootedness. After rainfall, some sections may be slippery.
