Directions

At the starting point, you can already admire the historic ensemble, consisting of the church built in 1250, the parsonage built in 1608 with the associated parsonage barn, and the picturesque parsonage pond with the parsonage bakery built in 1750.

From there, it goes up to the actual circular route. Those who take it clockwise already have a panoramic view of the village from the northwest after a short distance. Afterwards, you reach the highest point of the route, from which there is a detour of about 300 m to the "Holzklauer Schlag." The old boundary stone from 1690 still stands there today. In front of the border rampart is a well-preserved redoubt, near which a hollow way has been uncovered.

Back on the F13, after crossing the L564, you come to the Alten Berg between Oberholzklau and Meiswinkel. From here, you now look at the picturesque village from the northeast. Then it goes slowly down through the forest. Shortly before the lowest point of the route, on the right side of the path, is the Bärenwaldeiche, planted in 1315; a style oak that has now survived for more than seven centuries and now has a trunk circumference of over 5 meters.

After that, you go through the valley of the "Holzklau" back towards the village center. In the final climb, you enjoy the third view of the village from the south before reaching the starting point in the village center.
