There are many varied and scenically attractive running routes in Dautenbach – geographically in the triangle between Weidenau, Bürbach, Volnsberg, and Breitenbach on the Siegen side, as well as the neighboring city of Netphen and its district Dreis-Tiefenbach.
The jogging loop runs partly along the ridge, which also marks the border between the two Siegerland municipalities. The ridge path is at the same time an ancient high path dating back to Celtic times, along which a section of the Way of St. James and the European long-distance path 1 run. In Siegerland, it is known as the "Butterweg" (Butter Way) because agricultural products from Hesse were once transported here into the city of Siegen.

Directions
The starting point of the run is the Dautenbach hiking parking lot, directly on Tiefenbacher Straße/County Road 5, between Siegen-Giersberg and Dreis-Tiefenbach.
The Rabenhain-wind turbine route over 8.9 kilometers starts at the fallen tree trunk to the right, after 750 meters turn right past a water reservoir and after 950 meters turn right again. After 1.6 kilometers follow the A3 hiking trail to the right, at kilometer 1.9 go right over a footpath past the Rabenhain observation tower, at the tower turn left downhill, then sharp right again onto the main path. Downhill on a gravel path, at 2.4 km follow the A3 hiking trail to the left, past the Volnsberg soccer field. After an asphalt section downhill, turn sharp left (2.75 km). At kilometer 3.1 turn right and have a view of the wind turbine on the left.
At kilometer 4.7 turn sharp left just before the Breitenbach shooting range, go uphill on a paved road, at the crossing (km 5.1) go straight over a gravel path (wind turbine to the left), then at kilometer 5.4 turn left at the crossing and walk towards the wind turbine. Afterwards, for the first time, continue straight.
After 6.1 kilometers, turn sharp right and at the junction at kilometer 6.7 take the hairpin turn to the left and then directly left again over a root path. After a beech and spruce forest (km 7) you pass the reservoir again at kilometer 8 and then turn right towards the starting point at the parking lot.

The starting point of the route is 400 meters from the Tiefenbacher Straße bus stop (at the level of the Cafe/Restaurant Dautenbach), which is served from Siegen central station / central bus station.

Author´s Tip / Recommendation of the author
Those who want to shorten the route can take the direct path straight ahead at the sharp junction at kilometer 6.1, which leads a little faster back to the water reservoir and the starting point.
