Directions

Along the Ederauenweg there are 15 numbered signboards that point out special features:

1) + 2) On the trail of ancient culture

A Celtic hill fort (1) lies on the prominent loop hill near Dotzlar. As an original parish, the Bonifatius Church in Raumland (2) on a steep rock opposite the Odeborn mouth offers exciting historical details.......

3) Water - foot sensory path - gravel bed walking

The water of the Eder wants to feel our feet and unfold its invigorating effect.

(Important: The river course and bank are FFH area. Therefore, please only enter the Eder in the areas of bridges and weirs!)

4) Crystal clear water

The Eder is a paradise for flora and fauna. The high flow velocity is also remarkable.

5) Meditation rock

"God sleeps in the stone, breathes in the plant, dreams in the animal and awakens in the human!" We focus on the song that the Eder sings to us with its clear water! Water calms and inspires......

6) Let nature be nature

The vegetation strips on the railway embankment and on the steep slopes of the Eder valley are primeval. Wild and unrefined trees dominate the scenery. An ideal place for nature lovers! .....

7) For eternity

Unobtrusive initials are engraved at the foot of the imposing Honert rock. The rock massif was created through extensive blasting work.

8) Ingenious builders

The attentive hiker or cyclist senses the effort that was put into building the railway track. Perfection is visible in all accompanying structures ......

9) Hollenloch

The legend of the dwarf king Golderich .....

10) The terrible one

Eder floods can be terrible - this is proven by the flood mark on the flank of the underpass to Gersbach.

11) Mass grave

370 million years ago, a catastrophic cut in Earth's history occurred: 60 to 70 percent of all species perished. Geologists researched the rock on the right side next to the railway curve between Arfeld and Schwarzenau and found only a few centimeters thick black layers between the light rock......

12) Perceive the world

Simply close your eyes - and perceive all sounds and scents!

13) The Eder as a holy river

Church father Alexander Mack developed his Baptist teaching in the early 18th century in Schwarzenau and baptized the first believers in the Eder in 1708.

14) A divine work of art

A short detour is worth it. The Kieselschiefer quarry, awarded as a "National Geotope," is exceptional.

15) A ridge hike

The Rundbogen bridge in Beddelhausen is a listed monument - but not because the 51st parallel runs over it.
