The feeder path of the Ederhöhenpfad leads from Bad Berleburg to Beddelhausen. The path is marked by a white "E" with a blue brushstroke on a yellow background.

The "Ederhöhenpfad" follows the course of the Eder River and leads not only through unique landscapes but also across country borders. Rustic paths and impressive rocks, mystical forests, and river valleys – the route along the Eder captivates with precise trail guidance.

In Beddelhausen, at the Hessian border, the trail symbol changes its background color to black. The route then continues to the Edersee.

Directions

The route starts at Berleburg Castle, which has been inhabited by the princely family of Sayn-Wittgenstein-Berleburg for 750 years. The path then leads past the Nature Park Information Center with the Wisent exhibition. From here, the path goes up to the Bismarck Column, where you have a splendid view over the town. Paths, forest trails, and grooves carved into rock from an old trade route lead you further into the nature reserves "Hörre" and "Honert." Spectacular trails run over steep paths, massive rock cliffs, and through a mystical oak forest to the Eder River. Along the way, you also pass by the Wittgenstein highland cattle grazing on the hillside meadows. Along the Eder, the path mostly runs over paths or old fire tracks. From these fire tracks, fires caused by the steam locomotive were extinguished in the past. More and more, you now also see the Eder or hear the rushing of the water. Upon arriving in Beddelhausen, you can take a look at the kieselschiefer quarry, which fascinates with folded layers of dark, fossil-rich rock strata. The path then goes over the old railway track through wonderful untouched nature to the Hessian border.
