The route with the breathtaking view. Worth a hike at any time of the year; in winter, snow-covered peaks are enticing, while in May/June a sea of yellow broom and pink foxglove spills over the slopes. A delight for the eyes and soul and definitely worth hiking!

Directions
Initially, the path runs through the small village of Puderbach. On the right is the old fortified church, the village’s landmark with its distinctive massive tower. At first, the path winds through side streets of the village until it passes the village exit into extensive pasture and meadow landscapes - the Kirschwiesental. From here it begins to rise slowly and the open meadows are replaced by deciduous forests. The slight incline continues at first until we reach the Kirschköpfchen. Up to the crossing of the L903 road, it is relatively flat for recovery through further beech forest. We reach the federal road and follow it a very short way uphill, then cross it to walk along the Hessian border towards Puderburg. For a good stretch we walk in Hessian territory, only shortly before Puderburg do we reach Wittgenstein again. Some border stones mark the border areas. A detour to the summit is a must. Admittedly, the ascent is not easy and some altitude meters have to be climbed on a winding path. Some surefootedness, especially for the descent, should be present! Here you find a very special atmosphere. Like driftwood at the sea, bleached deadwood lies here as remnants of the massive deforestation due to bark beetle infestation. As sad as the bark beetle plague is for our nature, the deforestation has created incredibly beautiful views. And nature is reclaiming the fallow areas. Especially in May/June, a sea of yellow broom can be found here, which is replaced by purple foxglove. Those who choose the path are rewarded with great images. At the summit, you find the only summit cross in the district. The bench underneath invites you to enjoy and rest - the perfect place for a well-deserved picnic. You hardly want to leave from up here and can’t get enough of the adjoining Hessian and Wittgenstein mountain world. After a somewhat demanding downhill, the forest path winds steadily downhill back to the starting point, again and again with great views and a colorful quarry almost at the end of the path.Â

Safety guidelines
We recommend sturdy footwear and possibly sun protection, as some sections run without shade due to deforestation. The ascent to Puderburg is steep for our latitudes. Especially on the descent, surefootedness is important.Â
