Starting from the WP at the natural pond, the first 1.5 - 2.5 km ascend about 220 meters. At its "summit," a short (signposted) forest path leads to a geological peculiarity of the region: the "Großer Stein" - a true natural spectacle! According to legend, Siegfried Hick buried a giant in battle here with the basalt boulders found here. Back on the trail marked with Ho3, the route continues over a bridge crossing the B54. Following the path marking to the right, hikers and cyclists enjoy a new panorama: due to the massive tree blowdown (bark beetles have also left traces here), a previously impossible view opens into the Lahn Valley. The now gently downhill path from here allows your thoughts to wander and lets you fully enjoy the forest sections. Upon reaching the section "Obere Sang," take a sharp right turn heading back toward Holzhausen.
Passing the internationally known conference center "Wykliff" for Bible translations on the left, the route continues through a viaduct, then immediately turns right, cutting through the village for about 300 meters. Next, the route turns right again, passing under another viaduct, following the path to the mushroom farm and barbecue hut. Passing the barbecue hut - or above the recreational properties - you are once again rewarded with a great view. After passing the facility "Blau-Kreuz-Heim," you return to the natural pond and thus to the starting point.
At the start and finish point, there is the possibility to dine at a nearby pizzeria.
If you are more in the mood for some upscale local cuisine, the well-known "Fiester Hannes" (hotel and gastronomy) is recommended, where "Beatle" Paul McCartney spent some nights.
