L6 - Local hiking trail Bad Laasphe "Horst bei Sassenhausen"

The hike starts in the town center at the hiking portal in front of the Haus des Gastes and first leads through the beautiful old town with its original half-timbered houses, the old town fountain, and the historic church. Afterwards, the path turns left and then steadily climbs uphill, past the rent office up to Wittgenstein Castle. After this ascent, a break is worthwhile to enjoy the view of the old castle. From here, the path runs relatively flat through beautiful old spruce and beech forests, which partly provide pleasant shade and at times allow great panoramic views. Shortly before Sassenhausen, the L6 leads back towards the starting point and from the "Horst" intersection goes back to Bad Laasphe via Harfeld and the Neuntel.

Sturdy footwear and trail provisions should be taken along. There is no opportunity to stop for refreshment or to refill water supplies along the way.

Access by car leads to Bad Laasphe town center (Haus des Gastes).

Sufficient free parking spaces are available.

Wittgenstein Castle is a boarding school and school and therefore cannot be visited inside. Nevertheless, a detour to the old castle courtyard is worthwhile to take in the old walls.
