Beautiful circular hike around the Buchholzberge to the Großgemeindestein and back through the Banfe valley to Bad Laasphe.

A great circular route, which initially runs parallel to the European long-distance path E1, which leads from the North Cape to Salerno in southern Italy (marked here with X2).

Directions

From Wilhelmsplatz in the centre of Bad Laasphe, a small side street leads past the town hall onto the street "Am Gennernbach", where you turn left, then shortly afterwards immediately turn left again and follow the main road (Lahnstraße) to the bridge. At the bridge, turn left again before a short stretch leads right to Friedrichshütte. Behind the houses, you go up a small hill and here begins a beautiful path along the forest past the "breakfast beech", below the Buchholzberge, and on to the Großgemeindestein. The Großgemeindestein between Laaspherhütte and Banfe is the geographical centre of Bad Laasphe and its 24 districts. The Großgemeindestein was established in 1975 and has since been approached by numerous hiking trails. Covered benches also offer the possibility to pause even in less favourable weather conditions.

Up to here, the path runs together with the European long-distance path E1, which currently leads from the North Cape to Salerno in southern Italy (marked here with X2). From the viewpoint "Am Windhof", L2 also runs together with the Lahn hiking trail for a bit. At the Großgemeindestein, the L2 then turns towards Bad Laasphe and leaves its prominent parallel routes. Passing Hof Breitenbach, it continues always along the stream towards the starting point. Shortly afterwards, Laaspherhütte is reached (here there is the possibility to stop at the country guesthouse Schmidt). At the exit of Laaspherhütte, turn right over a small bridge onto the so-called "Promilleweg", an asphalted – actually a cycle path – leading through meadows back to Bad Laasphe. At the end, the company Ejot is located on the left side and the "Untere Bienhecke" adjoins seamlessly. At the end of the road, turn left into Ditzroder Weg, which after about 50 m leads back again into Gennernbach. From here, the same path leads back to the House of Guests.

The circular path can also be walked easily in the other direction and is marked on both sides with L7.
