Scenic at every moment

The northern circuit around Bad Laasphe, that is one way to describe the L1. It leads through the so-called Wallachei, through the Gennernbach valley, around the Wolfskammer, and back into the town via the picturesque spa park. It is worth letting your eyes wander, as cleared open spaces offer fantastic views at every section of the path.

Directions

The path starts at the hiking portal at Wilhelmsplatz and initially passes through a residential area over the Gennernbach (passing the outdoor swimming pool here) before it changes into a forest path at the town’s edge. From here, the trail steadily ascends along the slope of the Wolfskammer. Due to bark beetle problems, the spruce forests have been cleared, opening up fantastic views. It is worth letting your gaze wander and pausing occasionally. Or maybe keeping your eyes open, because after circling the "Wolfskammer," a road is crossed that carries the nickname "Poor Man." Legends say that a man was once chased here by wolves and managed to make it home, where he then died of exhaustion. Don’t worry! There have been no recent wolf sightings here. Along the Struthberg, the route now follows the North Rhine-Westphalia/Hesse border back towards the starting point. Here too, the forest path initially runs very scenic in a northeast direction before it transitions into a low-growing, beautiful mixed forest. After crossing an old country road, there is a short climb before the L1 breaks off left onto a meadow path that initially runs flat before descending and leading through the Buhl into the lovely Bad Laasphe spa park. Here, a rest by the pond is recommended to let the impressions of the hike sink in. From here, it is only a few meters to the starting point or the Bad Laasphe town center, where you could now comfortably stop by local gastronomy.

Those who walk the path in the opposite direction (Wanderportal - Kurpark - Wolfskammer - Gennernbachtal) pass the outdoor swimming pool in Bad Laasphe (Wabach Bad) on the way back. A plunge into the cold water after the hike is the perfect end to this scenic route.
