Untamed vegetation, impressive rock formations and a cozy river landscape – this natural bike path is definitely worth a route!

This themed section of the Eder cycle path guarantees wide views of beautiful landscapes. Get on your bike and embark on the route through the lower Eder valley.

Besides the outstanding vegetation, much more sights await you here: At the smithy museum in Arfeld, you can forge iron yourself; the Alexander Mack Museum in the Schwarzenau Hüttental tells the impressive story of a religious founder; and as a highlight, you will pass by the beautiful manor house in Schwarzenau. Between stations, you can fully enjoy the landscape.

Every meter you climb is worth it for the impressive panorama this route promises. The 30 kilometers long route has a wonderful loop character that offers you individual entry and exit options. Difficulty and length of the route can be varied.

Directions

The starting point of this bike route is the "Reisegarten" parking lot in Raumland: you can easily get rolling downstream here. The route leads straight along the Eder River to Arfeld. Upon arriving in the village, a first stop is worthwhile. Here, the "Open Bike Path Church" invites you to a moment of peace and reflection. The Arfeld Smithy also recommends a visit due to its interesting history.

The route initially goes slightly uphill with a short steep section that leads you into the historically rich Upper Hüttental in Schwarzenau. Your efforts will be rewarded here with wonderful views. A visit to the Alexander Mack Museum lets you learn about the history of the Pietists in Wittgenstein.

Then it rushes down again towards Schwarzenau, past the Augenstein Via Adrina to the village center. Visually, the focus here is the manor house directly by the Eder bridge.

The path then leads back towards Arfeld. There, the Via Adrina Center invites you to rest with its railway café and a public toilet.

Between Arfeld and Dotzlar, you climb the next hill. The sweat-inducing effort is made up for by the viewing platform at Hainbach above Arfeld.

Over a panoramic route, the path continues to Dotzlar, then along the Eder River. From there, you cycle back along the Eder cycle path to the slate village Raumland.
