The cycling route originated from an innovative idea within the framework of the municipal Wood Agenda Bad Berleburg. The route covers about 80 kilometers through numerous villages and the town center of Bad Berleburg. You can also divide the route into two stages – a small round (50 kilometers) and a large round (60 kilometers). Along the way, you cycle past wood-processing companies, where everything revolves around the raw material. You see wooden buildings – some from early history, some from current construction periods. Along the route, you look out over cleared forests, individual reforestation areas, and wild nature reserves. At several locations, there are informative insights into sustainable work. Here you learn more about the natural material, its variations, and its uses: as a log or sawdust, as a spoon or reading basket, as a construction material or firewood, in the forest or in the workshop. Discover the fascinating raw material that presents itself as a true shape-shifter along the cycling route.
